I am definitely a morning person, I do not enjoy staying up late, and I am my most productive and creative when I first wake up. Lately I have been perfecting a morning routine; I keep it simple and it consistent. Getting out of bed is just the beginning, the next challenge is maximizing your time. Having a solid routine, relatively easy to stick to, allows me more time to focus on:
Setting the tone for the day
If I’m not looking forward to a task or event occurring later that day; beginning with optimism and gratitude are essential to re-center and relax. Instead of worrying about what ‘s out of my control I think about what I am grateful for. This can be anything, health, family, faith, etc, whatever I choose; that moment in the morning makes all the difference. There are times when little things can get the best of us, things that don’t even matter, when I begin my day with the important things in life, insignificant moments that the ego tries to make significant have no control over my day.
Writing my Vision
Going over my to do list ensures that I stay focused on my goals. I keep a list of weekly short term tasks to accomplish and long term goals. I genuinely believe in the power of writing down your goals and creating a clear vision of what you want to manifest in life. What is faith without vision? The practice of writing down my goals outlines what needs to be accomplished in order to achieve bigger, broader goals down the line.
Coffee and Quiet
Simply put it’s “me time” with lots of cream and sugar. When I go to bed at night I look forward to waking up in the morning to a good cup of coffee and being alone with my thoughts. It may be the only child in me, but I truly enjoy solitude. I also enjoy looking out my window as the sun rises and watching the city wake up. The dark slowly turns to light, the quiet streets fill with cars, and the hustle and bustle of another beautiful day begins.
“Every morning has a new beginning, a new blessing, a new hope. It’s a perfect day because it’s God’s gift. Have a blessed, hopeful perfect day to begin with.”
