Recently I finished a book that helped me put words to the feeling I have always known about mornings. “The Miracle Morning” written by Hal Elrod is a quick but very insightful read. It gives step by step instruction as to how to maximize your time to work towards becoming a better version of yourself; it’s not a course, rather it serves as a guideline to develop disciple and habits for an overall lifestyle change.
Outline your goals and work backwards, each step needed to get to the next level and make a conscience effort to complete the task. Documenting and executing brings clarity and a sense of accomplishment, it’s somewhat like an evolving business plan, dreams and goals are dynamic, they change and shift as we grow. “Stop being reactive, and start being proactive.”

Pray: Ask empowering questions, repeat affirmations, and develop a personal mantra
Sometimes while reading I come across a teaching or a quote that resonates deeply, that feeling of “this me, I needs this” sets in and I spend a little more time applying the lesson to my daily life.
Two quotes that have stuck with me throughout the course are: "Nothing can hurt you unless you give it the power to do so." And "Teach no one he has hurt you, for if you do, you teach yourself that what is not of God has power over you. The two quotes about power struck a chord with me; often times in life we are put in situations that make us feel attacked and vulnerable and we act out in self defense and fear.
My motivation to create The Chic Script was to start a hobby, have some me time, and focus on areas of interest outside of my career. Like so many millennials I have spent a lot of time in school, 10 years to be exact. When I graduated from professional school I naively believed that all my happiness was just on the other side of crossing the stage and earning my doctorate, so instead of using my new study-less free time to foster new areas of growth in my life, I immediately began working harder so I would get promoted and became so consumed with my career I started to feel like I was working all the time.
One day I had enough, things had to change; I realized happiness was a CHOICE I had to make. I decided to ask myself some simple and very honest questions:
1. What would I wear if I didn't have to put on scrubs everyday?
2. What would I do with my time if I didn't have to go to work everyday?
3. How can I be the best version of myself?
